Reuse – don’t reinvent – the wheel

For fifteen years, CUREE has been interrogating the international evidence base, extracting from it the stuff which actually works to improve student achievement. In that time, we have distilled what’s known into a core of useful research evidence and related practical resources which we can tailor to your curriculum and teaching and learning challenges.

Sing Up Evaluation

94% of primary schools have registered with Sing Up, a national singing programme which started in 2007 and which aimed to make Britain a ‘Singing Nation.’ What makes it all tick?  CUREE is conducting an evaluation which aims to explore the impact as well as the learning from the unique Sing Up approach. Please click Sing Up for more information.

Sing Up Evaluation

CUREE is evaluating the Sing Up programme, working with the Sing Up Consortium (Youth Music, The Sage Gateshead, Faber Music and AMV-BBDO).  Sing Up is a national initiative aimed at increasing the presence of singing in English primary schools and community organisations, by developing and running a large number of diverse projects to encourage singing amongst children.  A key feature of the programme is the specialised CPD in singing for teachers and community leaders.

Conservative Party Conference - The future of teaching; Responsibility or Regulation? Co-hosted with ResPublica

At the Conservative Party conference on 4th October 2010 CUREE held a fringe event to consider the Future of the Profession. With the government’s new education agenda come substantial freedoms from central prescription and freedoms to innovate. Such freedoms, like all entitlements, bring responsibilities. In this case the responsibility for making significantly more professional judgements about what to teach, to whom, and how. What’s going to ensure that all these decisions actually improve things? Philippa Cordingley, for CUREE, argued that what was needed to kick start and drive improvement was a vision for the future of the profession with continuing professional learning at its centre.
