CUREE will assess your provision against an array of criteria derived from the evidence about effective provision against the following aspects:
This report provides a large snapshot of the range of CPD provision in England, where it stands in relation to the evidence base on effective CPD, and how much it costs. It is based on an evaluation commissioned by TDA of 75 providers including universities, awarding bodies, subject and other specialist associations, large and small private training organisations, local authorities and schools. It was carried out in 2010 -11. Its contents will help providers reflect on theircurrent provision, and consider the next steps in developing their offer
The longer days and snowdrops are telling me that we are on our way out of winter’s gloom –even if the colder weather feels more wintry.
I started the year alongside teachers and researchers from 50 countries across the world at the International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement (ICSEI) annual conference in Malmo. It was amazing to meet senior colleagues from schools in Northumberland and Bristol alongside researchers and school leaders from Chile and Malaysia! It was also exciting to learn that people from 5 different countries were so excited by my presentation about research route maps (www.curee.co.uk/products-and-services-overview/research-sat-nav) that they decided there and then to start to import them! I kept coming across people poring over them in coffee breaks and asking different questions about visuals, translation etc.
This article looks at research evidence about the characteristics of effective professional learning, and the skills of professional learners. It also explains how to make the most of learning opportunities within the school. By developing your own understanding of professional learning and learners, you can become more confident about the choices you have to make with limited resources.

This paper supports and expands on the presentation made by Philippa Cordingley to the international invitation seminar on the Future of the Teaching Profession held at Churchill College Cambridge on 16/17th February 2012.The event was sponsored by OECD and Education International
It focuses on the nature and role of teacher professional learning in shaping the future of the profession. It offers insights from six systematic and technical reviews of the evidence about Continuing Professional Learning and Development and extensive research and evaluation focussed on the impact of such activity on teachers and pupils and the effectiveness of school as learning environments for them both.
