Inside Evidence
CUREE has produced the Inside Evidence bulletin since its inception first by QIA and now its successor LSIS. Inside Evidence is an innovative publication for the learning and skills sector, bringing as it does relevant research and developments in teaching and learning to the attention of practitioners, curriculum leaders, subject learning coaches, and senior leaders. Originally published as a section of the Journal, it became a stand alone publication last year. In its current guise IE is produced in 3 easy to access formats:
- a browsable e-bulletin sent out to subscribers by email;
- a fully printable newsletter (in PDF format) for those who like to read these things over breakfast, on the train etc;
- each article formatted separately for easy download, on-screen reading and forwarding to others.
This edition was produced in partnership with two sector organisations - New College Nottiingham and the Royal Artillery Professional Development Centre. We think this makes the contents even more relevant and useful to practitioners in the sector than before.
The audience for Inside Evidence spans the gamut of provider types from general FE colleges to adult and community provision, from work based learning organisations to prison education. In addition to creating summaries of research reports, CUREE carries out literature reviews on issues of topical importance in the learning and skills sector and summarises these for inclusion in Inside Evidence.

Excellence Gateway
CUREE has supported the development of the Excellence Gateway (EG) since before it existed. The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) funded the development of a similar portal - called Learning and Skills Web - and CUREE was heavily involved in that work. We (in the shape of Paul Crisp) provided consultancy support to both QIA and LSC during the transition from Learning and Skills Web to the Excellence Gateway. A year later we undertook a preliminary evaluation of the EG which showed that it was well used and well liked, and provided an enhanced service at lower cost than those it replaced.
Much of the material generated for 'Inside Evidence' is added as individual articles to the EG database and can be found by searching the site. Some examples of those articles can be accessed from here:
-
How can we help motivate learners to persist and succeed?
-
Employer engagement
-
