What is involved in the Ipswich Mentor Development and Training Programme?

This programme provides high quality professional training for education providers in Ipswich, fully funded by the IOA, to support current and potential mentors for any NQTs or Early Career Teachers in their school.

The mentor will attend a training programme which includes a residential launch (further details about how this has been organised to reduce non-contact time below) and 4 x ½ day sessions over a 2-term period in Ipswich. There are multiple cohorts available, the first starting in September 2019, and schools can enrol multiple mentors in one cohort or spread their allocation of places across several.

The mentor will gain access to resources and materials, including a CUREE Research Route map, not only supporting them in their role as a mentor, but also providing practical materials they can use to support their mentee to develop their skills as an effective professional learner.

There is no cost to the school for attending this programme, and it will be possible to claim supply funding from the IOA for the mentors’ time away from school in return for a time commitment, to ensure the mentor can attend the training and have protected 1:1 sessions with their mentee.
