The 1 and 1/2 day coaching programme was designed to:
- develop and understanding of the rationale and research evidence for coaching
- explore different approaches to coaching
- develop the skills and understanding needed to use coaching as a key school/college improvement too
After day one participants were asked to try out some of the resources explored and consider possible opportunities to develop coaching further. Here is some of their feedback:
- Presented paper to go to the Senior Leadership Group about implementing coaching - plan accepted
- Identified target group for a pilot
- Established a coaching triad focusing on inclusion/literacy
- Discussed plans for staff inset beginning with a core group of staff
- Put together a timetable for teaching assistants to start 1:1 coaching sessions with children after half term
- Run 2 'leading learning' workshops for heads, managers and team leaders where coaching techniques and their potential were introduced
- Identified another manager who has coaching training and agreed a co-coaching arrangement
