Coaching Skills and Techniques for the 14-19 workforce

The 14-19 Diploma Support pack of resources has been created to support the use of coaching skills and techniques as tools for embedding 14-19 reforms in schools, colleges and the work of other providers. It is designed to support a culture of continuing professional development (CPD) and learning by enhancing practitioners’ coaching skills and highlighting the things practitioners who are being coached can do to make the most of the opportunity.

The resources within the pack comprise a series of practice-based, development activities, illuminated by animations, online tools and resources and summaries of key evidence. You can use these materials flexibly, selecting activities to support coaching for individuals and groups. You can also draw on them to help you overcome challenges in your role as a practitioner coach. They are designed to help you help support 14-19 colleagues as they embed excellence in applied learning in day-to-day practice. In particular they are designed to help you create an engaging, collaborative and thought-provoking learning environment for practitioners.

The resources are drawn from a much larger set developed by CUREE, called the Effective Mentoring and Coaching Suite. If you are looking to use coaching (or mentoring) more extensively in your school or college, you are likely to find other packs in the Suite helpful. You will find a lot more information about the EMAC Suite on CUREE’s website at www.curee.co.uk/mentoring-and-coaching/effective-mentoringand-coaching-emac-suite. Here you will find samplers (an overview plus one for each pack), advice on which pack or packs most suit your needs and information on training and other support available to you. Contact Lisa Bradbury on 024 7652 4036 or at lisa.bradbury@curee.co.uk for more information.

We hope that you will contact us if you have any queries about the 14-19 resources and we intend to use these pages to post technical information which we think may assist you.
