CUREE held a highly successful seminar on 3rd December 2010 which focused on exploring the latest research in CPD. Three studies were considered. These were the Building the Evidence Base project, the Teacher Professional Learning and Development review , and the Professional Practitioner use of Research Review. The key findings were presented and delegates discussed the implications for their practice. A particularly successful feature of the day was the opportunity to think about the connections between the three studies.
A number of key messages emerged which included:
· the importance of CPD;
· the need to link CPD with school curriculum development;
· the importance of basing CPD on analysis of the students’ learning needs; and
· the vital roles that peer and specialist support play in CPD.
