Informed, competent and motivated support staff play an important role in assisting teaching and learning within and beyond the classroom. Three schools in Hartlepool are extending the coaching programme their Heads attended and tailoring it to professionally grow those in support roles. Their drivers are to:
- Improve skills in co-coaching so that support staff work even better together
- Allow opportunities for learning from the best within the school
- Draw on specialist knowledge about supporting children with particular needs
- Develop an innovative mindset where new approaches are considered and reviewed
- Value constructive feedback and an opportunity to reflect
- Help support staff know that their priorities are in line with those of the school
The development sessions, based on CUREE Effective Mentoring and Coaching resources ran in June and where other schools have similar needs we welcome the opportunity to explore the value of co-coaching further. For more information, contact Lisa Bradbury at lisa.bradbury@curee.co.uk.
